Proverbs 25:25- As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.
Hello from Guyana,
I hope this newsletter finds everyone doing well. June is the rainy season in Guyana, as we
have been getting a lot of rain with a few sunny days in between. There are only two
seasons in Guyana with the rainy season that runs from April until the end of June, and in
December until the end of January. It is hot and sunny most of the year with a few rainy
days. The average temperature in Guyana is in the high 80’s and lows about 75 year- round.
Personal Report:
The past six weeks living in Guyana has been interesting with challenging times. A few
weeks ago on a late Saturday night, we had an electrical emergency as our electrical wire
flew off the pole that is on the road and fell into our yard, across the steps and into the yard
of the house next to us. Ronald, our landlord was fortunately still in Guyana, and he helped
us get in touch with the right people. They were supposed to come out as soon as possible
but did not come until about 10am on Sunday morning. We were without power from about
10pm Saturday night until Sunday morning. I preached at Industry that Sunday and
thankfully they had fixed the problem when we got back from worship.
Two weeks back we had a mouse that got into our air conditioner unit in our car. The mouse
died causing a terrible smell in the car for several days. We did not know what was causing
the terrible smell, so we called Andrew who knew exactly what the problem was. This
happened to him a couple of years ago with his van. He has a good friend that owns a
mechanic shop that works on air conditioners, and the problem was fixed. We are so
thankful for Andrew as He is also our driver for our campaign groups, and he is always
dependable when we need him.
Last Monday, [6-16-25] afternoon I got food poisoning after eating a bad piece of
watermelon. Thankfully, I was able to recover by Saturday. God gave me the strength to be
able to teach bible class and preach at Plaisance on Sunday morning. [6-22-25]. I am
thankful for my good wife who took good care of me in my sickness.
I am very thankful that everything is better, and it helps you not to take life for granted.
Thanks also to all my brothers and sisters in Christ in Guyana who prayed for me when I
was sick for a few days.
Congregational Updates:
The attendance at Plaisance and Industry has been steadfast even though we are in the
rainy season. Naiome and I are still alternating Sundays between Plaisance and Industry. I
am preaching at Plaisance twice a month, and at Industry twice a month. I am also
teaching Wed afternoon bible class at Plaisance every week. It is good working with
Witfield Collins at Plaisance, and with Floyd Cato at Industry every month.
The bridge at Plaisance almost collapsed a couple of weeks ago, and a few of our men
repaired the bridge on a Saturday. We worked about 7 hours to repair the bridge, and the
members are very pleased as it is a lot safer for the next few years. Andrew, who is our
driver for our VBS’s, and gospel meetings was also a big help in getting the job done.

July and August will be busy as the University Church of Christ group will be coming on July
19th-25th to help Plaisance with a VBS and a Gospel Meeting. There will be 25 coming to
work in this effort. Some of the men who came last year will be working at Industry during
the day to help build a new fence and do repair work on the building.
Industry will be also having a local VBS later August 3rd-8th, and a Gospel Meeting at night.
In early August (9th-16th), we will having a medical crusade led by a group from Faulkner
University. Please pray for these efforts that God will be glorified and that lives will be saved
and changed by the power of the Gospel of Christ.
Thank you, Brethren:
Thank you for being fellow workers with us in the Lord’s work in Guyana. We appreciate all
our supporters, and those who are helping us in the Guyana work. We are very thankful for
all your prayers, encouragement, and support. God bless you brethren!

Naiome’s Corner
Hello everyone.
Hope this newsletter finds everyone doing well. As Bruce stated above, we have had a few
challenges but that is life. Along with all of that I woke up one morning and could not move
the ring and pinky fingers on my right hand. I went to the hospital to see an orthopedic
doctor and was told that I had a pinched nerve in my neck. I had no clue as I had no pain in
my neck. He gave me some medication and after about a week I went to get it massaged. It
is better now but it was very painful when it happened.
Ladies’ Inspiration Day at Plaisance
We had a very successful Ladies Inspiration Day at Plaisance on May 31st despite having
blackout (power outage) all day, it was very hot and dark. The building was packed as we
had 149 in attendance and the Plaisance building can seat about 100 . We had rented
some chairs to help us with the seating. We had great fellowship, great spiritual and
physical food. Below are some pictures, the last two are Sherry and Rupa on the left
helping with registration and Camille on the right helping with serving food.

Upcoming events:
We are excited for our VBS group coming from the University Church of Christ in
Montgomery, Alabama. They will be doing a four-day VBS at Plaisance. The kids are very
excited about the VBS and we have been doing a lot of preparation getting ready for this.
On August 2nd
, the Industry congregation will be hosting their first Ladies Day. Our theme
for that is Women Winning Warfares. It’s a lot of planning and we are looking forward to a
great and successful time.
August 3rd-8th, Industry will be having a local VBS, the theme is “Jungle Adventure”.
August 11th
-15th will be a medical campaign at Industry. This is the first time for (myself and
Bruce) in the organizing of a medical campaign and it’s a lot of work involved. We are
very thankful for Feroze Baksh, a local preacher here who had experience in hosting these
and has been helping us get all the paperwork done. All doctors and nurses coming are
required to get a temporary license and work permit to practice for that week they are here,
plus all medicines must be listed for the pharmacy board here to be approved. We are
thankful that most of it has been submitted.
August 21st-26th, a few of our ladies will be going to a ladies’retreat in Suriname. I am
excited to be one of the speakers at this event. I pray that God guides me and gives me
wisdom as I speak on “I am with you”, the theme is taken from Isaiah 41:10.
At the end of August, we will be planning a back-to-school funday event at the Plaisance
congregation, the kids go back to school in September (Summer break is mid-July to
September.)
I will continue to update you all as these events take place. Please keep all these
upcoming events in your prayers. Please also pray for us as we continue to work with both
the Plaisance and Industry congregations. We ask for prayers for strength, good health and
God’s guidance daily. Please also keep our boys and the daughter of my heart (my
daughter in law) in your prayers. Thank you all for your continued support as we could not
do what we do without your help.
In Christian love,
Naiome
