Guyana Report for July 2025

Proverbs 25:25- As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a far country.

Hello from the House’s in Guyana,

We hope that all our friends and Brethren in the States are doing well. Time moves fast as  the Lord’s work in Guyana keeps us busy. Here are a few of the highlights in July.

Preparation for VBS and Gospel Meeting at Plaisance.

In early July the congregation at Plaisance did a lot of work in preparation for the VBS and  Gospel meeting that was held on July 20th-24th as a team of 25 from the University Church  of Christ in Montgomery, AL came in to work with us.

The front building that we use for children’s class was cleaned out, and the inside was  painted, and the windows and doors repaired to prevent flooding in the rooms. The little  kitchen now has a refrigerator and oven for the ladies to cook. It is a great help for our  monthly fellowships and for groups coming in for special efforts like VBS and Ladies days.

Plaisance also had new bathrooms put in a couple of months which is a big improvement. I  am very proud of the congregation and encouraged to see the members being much more  involved in the work of the church.

VBS and Gospel Meeting Held on July 20th- 24th

A group of 25 from the University Church of Christ came to Plaisance to hold a VBS and  Gospel Meeting. Sunday morning [20th] we had 96 for worship. We had 71 from Plaisance  which is very encouraging. David Woodason from University did the bible class and did a

great job. Joseph VanZandt from University preached and he also had a great lesson. We  had a fellowship meal after services, and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Sunday night we started the Gospel Meeting. Andrew Kingsley, preacher from the University  congregation preached Sunday night through Thursday night. He did a series of lessons  from Exodus and did a great job each night. We were edified and encouraged by his  lessons.

Monday through Thursday the VBS was held in the morning with about 70 children coming  each day. The group from the University congregation did a super job in working with our  children at Plaisance. University had ten young people that came. It is even more  impressive that the same young people came to Guyana last year to help us.

Some of the men came to work on putting up a new fence at Industry and do other work to  help Industry get ready for Industry’s Ladies Day [ August 2nd, 2025]. Industry is also having  a local VBS and Gospel Meeting starting Sunday night [ 8-3-25]. It will go through Thursday  night. The VBS will go Mon- Friday morning. August 11th-15th, Industry then will be having a

medical campaign as 35 will be coming from Faulkner. I will be reporting on these efforts in  our August report.

Don Walker Stayed Back in Guyana to Help Us at Plaisance and Industry

Don Walker came with the University group to help with the VBS and Gospel Meeting at  Plaisance. He is staying until 8-16-25 to help us with the Lord’s work. He has been a great  encouragement to the church in Guyana. We are using him to preach and teach at  Plaisance and Industry. Don has been preaching for about 40 years and has done mission  work in the Philippines for over 20 years. He has also been a great help in Industry’s  preparation for August’s activities.

Thanks again you all your support and encouragement

We are very blessed to be co-workers with the University Church of Christ, and all those  who make it possible for us to live and work with the church in Guyana. We love and  appreciate all of you. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement.

In His Service,

Naiome’s Corner

Hello everyone from hot Guyana It’s been extremely hot here. As Bruce mentioned  above, we have a busy summer planned. It was a blessing to have the group from the  University Church of Christ here to help us. Below are some pictures and highlights.

Decorating for the VBS. Our theme was “Under the Sea”. My sister Roxanne made an  aquarium of fishes and a welcome sign, which the kids really liked.

Part of our group worked at the Industry congregation building them a new fence.

We made snacks for the kids each day. We were so proud to use our church kitchen, and  the ladies did an excellent job each day. Below are some pholourie, a popular snack in  Guyana that is made of yellow split pea and flour. Camille, one of our precious sisters from  the Plaisance congregation is making coconut milk for the cook up rice (its beans and rice  cooked in coconut milk)

The kids playing outdoor sports.

Part of our group that did the VBS at Plaisance from the University Church of Christ. We had a Ladies luncheon on Wednesday July 23rd with our sisters from the US.

The bridge collapsed on Wednesday night at Plaisance, and the men worked on Thursday morning to get it fixed. Al the kids had to walk thru Witfield’s the preacher’s yard; we told  them it was an adventure.

In our next report I will post pictures of the Ladies Day at Industry, the theme is Women  Winning Warfares. I will post pictures of our local VBS the theme is “Upside down Under”.  We will also have pictures of our medical clinic and the ladies’trip to Suriname for a Ladies  Event. Plus, pictures of our back-to-school funday at Plaisance which is on August 30th. I will be going to a ladies day with my sister Sarah on August 16th, I will have to take two  buses to get there so that should be fun

Thank you all for all your support in making it possible for us to be here and to encourage  and build up both congregations. It’s so good working for the Lord and seeing so much  growth in the past year and a half. All glory and praise go to our Lord, who gives us strength each day as we continue to labor in His vineyard. Please continue to pray for us, the  churches here, our family and all the events planned. Thank you again.

In Christian love
